Mali is very known for their hand made textiles and very different colorful patterns in tradition dress. It isn't unusual to see clothes made in dark blue. Traditional clothes in Mali are normally dyed with natural dye and they can have a very unique tie dye pattern. Women in Mali traditionally wear wrap skirts called pagnes with a matching tunics, shirts or blouses and pattern headed scarves. Men traditionally wear a long tunic called a zebrebou for work, and that would be casual for them. For the mens formal wear they have long embroidered robes to.
In Mali they have a lot of unique traditions that may be very different from what you would normally see. Fulani woman tattoo their lips and gums and they wear gold hoops through their noses. They also would wear wear huge gold earrings. The families in Mali are a little different. The men in the family are able to marry up to 4 women. Also men in a family would hunt, herd animals and cultivate as a way to provide for the family. Woman in a family would clean, cook, get water, collect fire wood, weed the plants and harvest. That is traditionally what the roles of men and women were.
